2022 'Skilly Ridge' Riesling

The Skilly Ridge vineyard, planted by the Ingham family in 1994 produces an array of exciting varietal characteristics from each of the different planted varieties. Much thought was given to where each variety would be planted, and this saw the Riesling block thrive on a mixture of clay, loam and shale with an ideal easterly aspect.

For nearly 30 years, this vineyard has been meticulously cared for, attention being paid to shoot positioning, sun exposure and ideal canopy size. This careful management has produced fruit that earns a home in a special release wine.

This wine is enjoyable with or without food and will develop gracefully for up to 15 years.

2021 'Heinrich' Fiano

The Heinrich family settled in Clare in 1940 and have had an important impact within the valley ever since. The family purchased the land to the north east of Clare in 1985 to plant a number of grape varietals soon after. We are lucky to now be the custodians of this beautiful property, which grows 1hA of Fiano.

Native to southern Italy, it comes as no surprise that this variety is a perfect match for Clare Valley terroir. The vines are able to produce a strong stylistic example of Fiano characteristics.

We have chosen to create a textural stlye of Fiano, concentrated and delicious with lifted tropical lychee and peach flavours, balanced with fresh grassy herbal notes and a creamy yet crisp finish. Naturally this style of wine goes well with pasta and white meat dishes.

2021 'Ladera' Tempranillo

As the principal variety of the world-renowned wines of Rioja, Tempranillo has long been the backbone of the Spanish red-wine industry. We discovered two important things many years ago; that drinking these wines from Rioja could be a wonderful experience and that the variety itself is well suited to the Clare Valley’s growing conditions and terroir.

This wine demonstrates the definitive Tempranillo characters of strawberry and cherry, in harmony with clove and cinnamon spice derived from 18 months ageing in new French oak hogsheads. Made with a strong influence of the greatest Old-World Tempranillos examples, the palate is juicy and savoury and is lower in alcohol than most Australian red wines.

2018 'Watervale' Cabernet Malbec

Cabernet Sauvignon has long been recognised as an excellent variety throughout the Clare Valley, rich in savoury dark fruit flavours without the green edges often found in other regions. By co-fermenting small parcels of outstanding dry-grown Cabernet Sauvignon with Malbec, we have produced a powerful, full bodied wine.  A long maturation period of 36 months in French oak provides spice and balance to the wine, which is dominated by ripe blackcurrant, black cherry and violet flower aromas and flavours. A long ageing period between barrel and bottle prior to release has melded all wine components to further enhance the prestige of this wine. Patient cellaring will be rewarded, with potential to improve for up to 20 years.

2018 'Schaefer' Shiraz

Clare Valley Shiraz can produce a myriad of differing wine styles, each one telling a unique story of the parcel of land on which it is planted.
The Schaefer block represents something very special, both in regard to the unique elegant and rich fruit flavours found in the fruit and also the meticulous care and passion shown by the Schaefer family through their twenty years of grape growing. Now custodians of this beautiful property, we continue to nurture the vines with equivalent attention to detail, selecting this exclusive parcel for this special release wine.
Twenty-four months in new French oak provides perfume, spice and balance to the wine, which is dominated by dark red cherries, plums and red berry aromas and flavours.
Further ageing in tank prior to release has melded all wine components to further enhance the prestige of this complex yet graceful wine. Patient cellaring will be rewarded, with potential to improve for up to 20 years.

2019 'The Aberfeldy' Shiraz

Synonymous with quality, our flagship wine 'The Aberfeldy', has earnt and maintains a Langtons Classification of ‘Excellent’ and has been referred to as “Clare Valley’s Grange”.

The bold, yet classy 2019 Aberfeldy has a vibrant deep ruby red hue with aromas of ripe berries, cherry, plum and chocolate accompanied by clove, nutmeg and vanilla oak derived characters. The palate is full bodied with dark berry conserve flavours and firm tannin generated from the warm, dry growing season leading in to vintage. The wine has persistent length of sweet fruit and oak, with a balance of power and great finesse. It is elegant enough to enjoy now, yet also has the structure to be kept for up to 25 years in good conditions. We recommend decanting, allowing at least one hour prior to serving for maximum enjoyment.
