G’day Mixed Dozen

Our twenty fourth release of The Fergus is named after our neighbour who was good enough to sell us his Grenache grapes in the vintage of 1993, during a desperate shortage of Shiraz and Cabernet. We quickly realised that a wine born from logistics had real potential as a medium, juicy style with both immediate and long term food compatibility. This wine has lifted red strawberry and cherry aromas and flavours of Tempranillo, with spiciness from Grenache and mid palate richness with plum and violet characters coming from Malbec. Ageing in older French oak hogsheads adds subtle, integrated perfume and toasted characters.
It is a luscious mouth filling wine with silky tannin that with careful cellaring may be kept for up to 15-20 years.

In the late 1960's Clare Valley winemakers championed a product know as "Bin 5" Riesling. The wine was rich in the mid palate, with low levels of residual sugar, and notably less acidity than its partner the "Bin 7". The Mr. Mick Riesling reflects this style, with a splash of fruit sweetness that makes it suitable for many different occasions and a broad array of cuisines.

Generous lemon and lime juice with a lavender perfume characterize this wine, made in the classic Australian style with just a touch of residual sweetness to balance the crisp natural acidity. It is a pristine wine with generous length of fruit flavour, a great example of the atypical but nevertheless outstanding 2024 vintage in Clare Valley.

The wine shows a great concentration and intensity of passionfruit pulp, stone fruits, ripe citrus and fresh sage with a generous body and texture and precise acidity across the palate.

The vintage 2024 continues to exemplify our chosen style of a rosé lighter in colour, yet characterful and expressive with lifted aromas of fresh strawberry, raspberry, cranberry and pink lady apple with a hint of white peach and crunchy rhubarb. The delicate fruit lingers on the palate before a cleansing, long finish held together with crisp Clare Valley acidity borne from a cool and steady ripening season. It’s a wine that leaves you wanting another glass.

The Italian variety, Sangiovese continues to gain popularity in Australia and with its roots happy to be in Clare Valley soils, this unoaked ‘easy-going’ wine style fits in to our repertoire perfectly, delivering vibrant flavours that create great conversation and satisfy many palates. The wine is light in style, packed with juicy raspberry and strawberry fruit flavours, refreshing natural acidity and soft silky tannins.

For many years Clare Valley Shiraz has captivated wine enthusiasts with its power and elegant synergism. This wine follows that style; graceful yet flavoursome, gentle enough to enjoy on its own or great with a diverse range of food. This full-bodied wine has aromas of lifted violet, blueberry and red fruit with nuances of creamy vanilla due to American oak maturation. The rounded palate is full of dark cherry and ripe raspberry flavours with hints of herb and spice, finishing with soft, silky tannins.

A harmonising partner for Cabernet, the Merlot adds middle palate texture whilst also softening Cabernet’s powerful structural tannin.
This traditional blend has distinctive varietal characters of dark fruits, coffee and dark chocolate.
It is a mouth-filling wine of great length with textured soft tannins, just the way we like it!
