Description

The use of only the very best 500 litres per tonne of grapes has resulted in this wine being very intensely flavoured and aromatic. The wine has well lifted Riesling character with citrus aromatics of lime, lemon and grapefruit. The palate is seamless with moderate viscosity and an extreme acid finish. Rieslings from the Clare Valley are most enjoyable when young and zesty, or left to mature beyond five years of age. We have allowed five years of bottle ageing before releasing this wine, which has consequently developed the added complexity of toasty honey and blossom characters. This wine has been sealed with a WAK cap closure; an internally threaded screw cap, providing technology with a traditional appearance and ensuring that this wine will cellar for 20 years in good conditions.

Winemaking Notes

100% free run juice from our most premium Clare Valley Riesling vineyards.

Growing Conditions

2011 was a cool and wet vintage, fortunately we were lucky to have harvested all of our whites prior to the extended wet period.

Made from free-run juice (500l/t), and shows its class from the outset. Bright and minerally, it has citrus juice flavours without a hint of sweetness, and its starting to built light toast and honey notes.
Screwcap. 10.5% alc. Drink to 2026.

Tim Adams is a winemaking hero, and this Clare Valley riesling can only add extra gleam to his aura (if possible!). Since it’; already had six years of cellaring before release, this wine is in another class. It is a joy, and though you can
drink it way down the track, why wait?

Also released as a six-year-old. A subdued, almost steely, mineral water and grapefruit nose with the barest faint hint of toast. The palate is explosively acidic, a wild ride of super grapefruit acid, the intensity of the finish exceptionally long and powerful. This is an acid giant of a wine, perhaps not ready now, but with a length that is simply amazing. Bargain price $29. 10.5%.
Best drinking: 2019-2031+.
18.5/20, 94/100+
