Description

In one of the most unique and picturesque wine regions of the world Alsace (France), Riesling and Pinot Gris grow side by side in the best sites down the hills of the Vosges Mountains. After visiting the region in the late 90s, it seemed logical for Tim that if Clare Valley had the conditions to produce worldclass Rieslings, it could also deliver quality Pinot Gris and the first vines were planted in our Ladera vineyard. Two decades later we are proudly making one of the most popular white wines in Australia.

Corella pear, stone fruits, honeydew melon and subtle lychee are the core of the 2024 vintage, all backed up by a refreshing acidity that gives the wine a crisp crunchy fruit character. True to our style and undoubtedly another classic release of our Pinot Gris.

Winemaking Notes

Harvested in the cool of the early morning, Pinot Gris from optimum vineyard sites throughout the Clare Valley was crushed, chilled to 5 degrees and pressed, the pressings separated. A cool and steady fermentation for two weeks has produced maximum lifted varietal fruit expression. Individual vineyard parcels were filtered before carefully blending. The wine has been cold and protein stabilised to industry standards, fined, filtered and bottled under screw cap to encapsulate the flavours and ensure freshness.

Growing Conditions

The growing season started with a relatively dry winter and budburst happening earlier than normal, with some of our warmer sites waking up from winter dormency in late August. The atypical period leading to Christmas brought cooler and wetter conditions to the Valley, but was followed by a great ripening season with the vines showing healthy canopies and overall good crops.

Food Pairing

A great food-wine; enjoy while it is young and vibrant, with Asian cuisine, seafood and salads.
