Sample The Fergus David Ellis, Daily Mercury, Food & Wine, January 2011 Back in 1993 when Clare Valley winemakers were suffering a desperate shortage of Shiraz and Cabernet grapes, Tim Adams Wines convinced a neighbour, Fergus Mahon to sell them his entire crop. And in appreciation they labelled the wine The Fergus. With wonderful red berry flavours and a nice spiciness from teh Grenache component, at $27 it's an ideal wine with famey meats, duck or lamb. Spicy, Juicy Pick, Tim Adams 2007 The Fergus Tony Love, Herald Sun , January 2011 Moving on from straight varietals styles, this blend features grenache as its lead character, with support roles by shiraz and temperanillo, cabernet and mataro, all mixing their bit to form a dusty, spicy, juicy wine. It's medium weighted and superbly crafted to be a fantastic food partner. A very good, bright, modern red wine. Download Snippet |

BRIGHTLY LIT & JUICY: Tim Adams 2006 The Fergus Jeremy Oliver, The Australian Wine Annual 2009, October 2008 Smooth and savoury, with a dusty, meaty and earthy fragrance of dark plums and blueberries, cloves and cinnamon over suggestions of menthol. Brightly lit and juicy, with a lingering spiciness, its vibrant, supple and red-fruited palate overlies a fine, powdery spine of drying tannins, finishing long and fresh. 93 points |

DARN GOOD RED: Tim Adams 2006 The Fergus Campbell Mattinson, Australian Gourmet Traveller WINE, July 2008 ... it tastes tarry and warm, as it always does, but also fresh, with bright raspberry and lavender-like scents — the latter is quite enchanting in both taste and smell ... lively, fresh and pure, a tribute to the Clare Valley. In short, it's a darn good red. Download Snippet |

SUBSTANTIAL FRUIT POWER: Tim Adams 2006 The Fergus Ray Jordan, The West Australian (Perth) , July 2008 ... a medium-bodied, fruity red with a nice fruit and oak balance. Deep fruit flavours are controlled and long, while the spicy finish is appealing. The oak sits unobtrusively in the background, allowing the substantial fruit power to surge through. VERY SUCCESSFUL WINE: Tim Adams 2006 The Fergus Gary Walsh, www.winorama.com.au , May 2008 It smells spicy, meaty, floral and red fruited (with a little bit of raspberry pie thrown in). Light, lively and hinting at a more European style, the medium-bodied palate is soft and dryish, combinging spice and red fruit with some more meaty, nutty flavours. It has length, drinkability and character — I think it's a very successful wine. 91 points.23 Download Snippet |

EXCELLENT VALUE: Tim Adams 2006 The Fergus Campbell Mattinson, The Big Red Wine Book, May 2008 It's full of tar and raspberry, but the best thing is that there are highlights of lavender and violet. It tastes quite a bit like a decent Spanish red, which is a serious compliment. Excellent value here. 91 points. Download Snippet |

For the Melbourne Age's special wine feature on 8 May 2007, Ralph Kyte-Powell recommended jsut over 90 wines ... three of them were from the Tim Adams stable: Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age (Melbourne) , May 2007 Tim Adams 2005 The Fergus ... smells typically mellow with aromas of sweet raspberries, plums, spice and dark soil ... not overly alcoholic like some SA grenache-based wines, and it tastes velvety and soft with a lingering berry aftertaste. Ageing: Drink over two years. Food idea: Home-made lamb-and-vegetable pasties. Rating: 4.5 stars. Download Snippet |
