RIESLING TRAIL COTTAGES These lovely self-contained cottages have private access to the riesling Trail and provide ideal accommodation for ardent bike riders. With at least five well known wineries within three kilometres, the scene is set for a very enjoyable stay in one of the world's most picturesque premium wine-growing regions.
THORN PARK Thorn Park Country House is an elegant 145-year-old homestead set in 65 acres of gently rolling hills and stately gums in the heart of the clare Valley wine region. CLARE VALLEY EXPERIENCES Touring the Clare Valley is always a joy. Here's a way to turn the visit into the most pleasurable and educational experience. Half- and full-day tours are available and can be tailored to suit individual needs. Heritage and art tours can be arranged.
THE RIESLING TRAIL The 27km trail passes through some of the most picturesque country in South Australia beautiful vineyards, panoramic farmland, historic churches, spectacular views of the ranges. The trail parallels the Main North Road, providing a safe and tranquil thoroughfare for walkers and cyclists.
MEDIKA GALLERY A fine art gallery, selling Australian glassware, pottery, crystal, prints and paintings, with the added attraction of resident wildlife artist Ian Roberts working in the adjacent studio. There is also an 8000-plant arboretum from which Ian draws much of his inspiration. The gallery was originally the St Petri Kitche Lutheran Church which was opened in 1886. MURRAY EDWARDS CORELLA HILL STUDIO This artist-built, mud-brick studio is set on a ridgetop with magnificent views over the vineyards and hills of the Clare Valley. Murray Edwards is well known for his impressionist landscapes, figure works and atill life paintings.
MARTINDALE HALL This magnificent Georgian-style mansion was built in 1879-80 by Edmund Bowman, an ambitious sheep farmer aged in his early 20s. It was designed as a home for entertaining and sport, and was featured in the Australian film, Picnic at Hanging Rock. It is open for viewing seven days a week, and also offers accommodation packages. |
